Global Village hopes to inspire action by helping people understand the value of secure, local, and sustainable food, and to show them how to transform their urban space into affordable, healthy, organic food.
Oliver, British Columbia, is located in the South Okanagan -- an area of stunning beauty full of vinyards, lakes, forests, and beautiful desert mountains. We are a geographic region unique in Canada as we are a desert climate enjoying very warm springs and falls, hot summers with cool nights, and mild winters. As a result, we are blessed to be able to grow a large variety of fruits and vegetables, herbs and flowers - providing endless opportunity to teach people from around the world permaculture concepts.
Come visit Global Village where you can enjoy nature at its best!
There are dozens of wineries in the area producing world- class wines, as well as numerous leisure opportunities such as hiking, biking, boating, and fishing.
Food is my passion: I love growing it, preserving it, cooking it, foraging it, and of course, eating it. During the Covid 19 pandemic I realized how insecure our food system really is, so I resolved that I would do what I could to help people understand the importance of food security.
We all deserve safe, healthy, and reliable access to food.
I first learned about permaculture on a demonstration farm in Nepal. The people at the farm touched and inspired me. They were poor, yet rich, because they were at one with nature, in sync with the elements, and respectful of the gifts of the earth.
I wanted to create this balance in my own life.
Permaculture is more than a way of growing food: it is a way of living. Global Village allows me to put into practice the principles of
Earth care, People care, Fair share.
It is my privilege to be able to share my skill and knowledge with you, to inspire you,
and to feed you! Corrie Adolph
The Residential Programs at Global Village combine a luxury stay in the Global Village Bed and Breakfast with morning training modules. The Mix and Match training modules are two-to-three hour classes and are designed to be fun, hands on, and take place either in the late morning or early afternoon -- leaving the rest of your day free for enjoying all the South Okanagan has to offer. All classes include refreshing drinks as well as written materials for you to take home.
All our training modules will be tailor-made to your specific experience level and interests.
My background as a professional was in training. I have a master's degree in intercultural communication and have trained governments, military personnel, and NGOs in a variety of topics. I am known for my ability to present a large amount of information in a fun and easy to understand way.
When I retired I opened my first luxury Bed and Breakfast and received top accolades for my unique, organic, and homegrown breakfasts. Then, during the Covid lockdown I began taking sommelier courses.
It is now my pleasure to combine all my skills with a passion for permaculture and food security.
