Mushroom foraging has become a farvorite thing for me to do in the Fall after I close down Global Village for the winter. Not only is it incredibly beautiful on the west coast, but the forests are magical and full of edible and medicinal mushrooms. On daily hikes you will see stunning scenery and a great many species of mushrooms.
This Fall we will be doing two foraging weeks only. Our first week of the season is confirmed for October 18-25, 2024 (Mount Baker area). The second week will be in Seaside, Oregon November 11 - 15. Contact us for more information.
After making your way to my home base you will attend a welcome reception where you will meet others in the group, drink wine, eat mushroom appetizers, and learn about everythig the week will entail.
Daily hikes will see you walking in a number of different settings - from coastal pine forests to old growth and mixed disiduous/conifer forests and even urban parks. Each day we will go on a 2-3 hour foraging hikes ranging from easy to moderate. There will be some driving (up to 1.5 hours each way) to various foraging locations with scenic stops along the way.
On these hikes you will learn where to look for specific fungi and how to safely identify edible and medicinal fungi. After your hike you are free to enjoy everything the area has to offer.
Price is per person, per week and optional activities are not included in the price. All hikers must have appropriate waterproof boots and outer clothing as it can get wet and muddy at times and every person must sign idemnification forms.
